Frequent posts = frequent visitors? Burnout or fadeaway?
View all posts by Paul AnthonyDoes frequent posting mean frequent visitors? Not necessarily. I think that one of the best way to build readership is to blog with good interesting content, but not to the point where people are scared away. If you maintain the frequency that people expect, without burning out, you are well on your way to achieving business blog success.
With the majority of blogs now using the likes of Feedburner, it is increasingly easy to see how many people are subscribing to your content, and who is coming back for more. You can watch the ebb and flow of subscribers as you change your blog content and design, and work out what people like (or dont like) as the case may be.
Becoming an Authority on any topic will always take time and effort, and there are plenty of reads out there about how you’ll never make it as a high profile member of the blogging community. My advice is to stick with it, at the very worst you will pick up additional traffic from the search engines. There is always going to be a danger of burning out, but fear not, if you get an idea for a post, always think of it in terms of its title. I often (when I’m in the blogging zone) write the title for posts, and just save them, with no content as yet. The content always seems to come, when my inspiration for other posts dries up. Let your sub conscious mind work on the content, and come back to it later.
There are a number of Wordpress toys we are using on this blog to keep in contact with the search engines as we post. But that’s for another post…
