How often do you think about different ways to market your site? Maybe your business website looks after itself, and churns along merrily without much interaction from you, but how much busier could you be if you actively set about marketing your website?

Personally, I’ve come up with a few ideas for marketing this site in 2008, and I’ve set to work on those ideas already. There’s one in particular that I’m keeping hush about, because its simplicity is genius, and I’m pretty sure that its going to bring in results, without much effort or spend. One thing that I’ve found is that increased focus on promoting the site, has sparked off a couple of good ideas. Infact I’d go as far to say that its become a bit of an obsession.

I’ve also started to look at the web in a different way, with the introduction of this blog, I’ve now started to actively comment more, and anytime I see a way of getting a backlink, I’ve been filling in my website address quicker than rat up a drainpipe.

Its only this year that I’ve began to get my act together in creating original content for this site, 2008 will also see integration with a few other less known software related sites that I have as well, and I’m hoping that the content from those will also increase traffic. One thing I’ve learned is that no man can have two masters. Much better to put all of your focus into one website at a time, until it supports itself. Holiday season for me has always been a good time to get an idea off the ground, as the start of a new year brings increased focus.

I’m actually really looking forward to telling you about my idea, but I dont want to let the cat out of the bag just yet, as it will be easily replicated. You’ll all just have to stay tuned for now. So what has been the most unique idea you guys have come up with to promote a site?
