Essential Utilities and Programs you need when re-installing Windows.
View all posts by Paul AnthonyI’ve just got myself back into Windows, I’m now dual booting with Ubuntu Linux, and things appear to be good to go. I’ve been forced to revert to Windows for some ASP.NET development work - it appears that whilst the mono-project will allow execution of .NET code, it still has a long way to go with the compilation tools - namely Visual studio. I’ve also had to reinstall alot of utilities which aren’t a part of the Windows system - direct from the web, so I’m working on putting these all on a DVD for future reference - problem with doing that though is that they quickly go out of date! Anyway here’s a list of what I’ve had to download, and the links to the various sites. I’m quite sure that anyone else faced with a fresh Windows install will have to do the same. These are the bits and bobs which I simply cant live without.
Firefox
The browser of choice.
Needed it for .NET development - and for my ATI Radeon driver install program!!!
You’ll be stuck without it.Direct X 10
Needed for gaming. etc.
