Spyfu Uk is due for its launch this week (24th of June), and luckily we have been priviledged enough to get a link into the UK version of the service direct from the Spyfu Team.

Early this week I got a nice little email from them, asking if we’d take a look around the free version of the UK system, considering that I’ve  spoken about them before I have since asked them for a login to see the paid system from the inside and let you guys take a look if it’s worth investing in.

For those of you not familiar with the service , SpyFu UK will be the first search analytics service that uses data culled from UK-based searches to provide thorough competitive intelligence for SEO and PPC campaigns – including paid and natural search competitors, keyword lists, average cost per click, rankings and more.

So why does it matter? Well, trends and competitors can be quite different from the US to the UK. For example, did you know that British advertisers spend more than £1 per click more than their American counterparts for alcohol rehab-related terms? (What does this tell us about British drinking culture? I guess we all a bunch of drunks. ;o). A few other bloggers have found that the US data has been a bit off putting in the past more here., and now with this alleviated the service will surely have some serious uptake in the Uk.

With UK specific phrases now becoming both more lucrative and with not many UK companies out there at the minute, it’s great to get data with this much value essentially for free, even if you decide not to signup with the service, there’s a wealth of info at your fingertips. We decided to run tests againsts some of the bigger e-commerce guys, just to see if you have deep pockets what sort of money can be spent online. Below is a screenshot from Amazon.co.uk,

If you are using PPC campaigns - it can be beneficial to keep up to speed with what your competitors are bidding on, as it may alert you to potentially lucrative phrases that you hadn’t thought of, and allow you to also see what negative keywords you should be using - and aren’t, and whilst the tools within Google Adwords and Analytics can help you out, there’s also quite a bit of benefit from using a third party impartial site such as Spyfu, to keep you right. It can also help you determine what sort of budget you should be using for PPC - just to keep pace with others in your niche.

The launch of SpyFu UK comes on the heels of a tremendous year of growth, if you are in the SEO business, you will undoubtedly  heard of them at some point or another. Since launching in May 2007, the Web site has grown to more than 1 million unique visitors each month – exceeding other industry-leading sites, such as compete.com, and putting its visitor count in the top 1 percent of all Web sites.

Anyway, I’ve asked for a login to the new system which launches tommorow to see if I can give you guys some better screenshots and data from the inside - at present from what I’ve seen the interface for the UK system, isn’t any different than the US version, with the only difference currently being the data which is reported back, however I’m sure there’s alot more of interest see with access to a paid for account.

Keep it locked here guys. And subscribe to our RSS if you haven’t already.
