Google profiles – in a bid to further encourage interaction, and the filling in of the data within your profile is now offering free (hard printed) business cards to users in the US.

The offer is through iPrint.com and offers free Google Profile business cards to the first 10,000 people who claim them. Each person can get a set of 25 cards that shows the Google.com home page with their Google Profile URL underneath it.
The offer is only available in the continental U.S., and Google says the cards should arrive within 10-12 days. You’ll have to create an iPrint.com account to place the order, or login to an existing account with them if you have one.
With Google promoting heavily at its profile section – and allowing followed links from it – its really baiting the web community to signup, and enter profile information. You don’t get any exposure in the SERP’s unless you fill it in fully, which is a further incentive to get business information up there.
Many others have speculated that Google profiles is Google shaping itself up as a potential Facebook killer. The dots have yet to be joined, (with no social features at present) but it is the mostly likely direction that they are going with this. It has already picked up much more exposure than Orkut – and this could be integrated further as time goes on.
This collection of extremely personal data will be the driving force behind the recent incentives – which can be used to further shape advertising within Adwords and other future advertising programs that they bring out.
