Some of you may or may not know, that for a couple of years now, I’ve been juggling entrepreneurship, with a regular 9 to 5. Well, I’ve decided to take the leap of faith, and start a business. It’s been a bit of a knightmare juggling work, home life and the other bits and bobs that I get upto online, and something had to give.

I’ve realised the hard way that you can’t really give a business the attention it deserves part time, and you just end up spinning your wheels. Everything you’ve seen of me in the online world so far has been the result of 5pm to late, or Saturdays, or spare bits of time here and there, now I can concentrate on building something significant, and really getting some traction. Its true what they say about having two masters – you end up pulling yourself in two trying to satisfy both.

Many have told me of the perils of the current economic climate- but if you listened to all the negative people in the world, you’d never get anything done. Sometimes you just have to face the fear and do it anyway. The tech community in Northern Ireland (and indeed on the web as a whole) are nothing short of amazing in the support they provide for each other, and there’s never been a better time to avail of that. I’m an ideas person – and being able to express my creativity through my work fills me with excitement at the possibilities out there.

In a nutshell – I’ll be providing design, development and marketing solutions for businesses, as well as getting a few personal projects off the ground, including a complete overhaul of this site. Thanks to everyone for your continued support, (and your readership) – you guys have been, and continue to be a great motivator – I’ll be sure to keep you all up to date on the escapades, trials and tribulations as I move forward into the great unknown…

Oh and don’t hesitate to get in touch, even if its just to say hello.

I love you all.
Paul.

Update. The blog will of course still be running, and I’ll be able to give it a bit more attention!

Wise decision dude, you’ll never be happier than when you’re working for yourself and you’ll never go back once you get a taste of it….plenty of work in your/our field too.

PS – say goodbye to bank loans though!

Hey Paul,
That’s great news. It is a fantastic experience (running your own business) and it is hugely rewarding. Bloody hard work though, but as you pointed out in the post you are already putting the hours in, so it hopefully won’t be a big change there.

As someone who started our company in the beginnings of the recession I think you can use it to your advantage. You are probably carrying a lot less overheads than your competitors and it is a great opportunity to sell web services and online marketing as a smarter way to spend those marketing budgets.

Good luck mate, anything I can help with please let me know.
Phil

Hi Paul,

As you know I was in the same position a few year ago. Best decision I ever made and haven’t regretted it at all.

I’m sure you’ll be a big success. Best of luck with it all.

Michael.
